I painted the inside of a glass salsa jar and use it in my kitchen to hold small trash (tea bags, plastic tags, the end you pull off to open a bag of grated cheese). I glued fabric on another that holds random change. Altoid tins are another favorite re-tasker; they're great for keeping paperclips and jewelry. I’m a big fan of using glass jars for other purposes.
