No Knead Bread

I love all the fresh bread here, especially because there is an especially good bakery just right down the street. There are actually two bakeries in our little village, one right down the road from the other. And they each have their specialty: one has better bread, croissants etc and the other’s cakes are to die for. But funnily enough, people don’t mind visiting both of them!

Sometimes though, it’s nice to have homemade bread. My problem however, is that the whole kneading, waiting, kneading, waiting thing gets a bit old, and we don’t really have room for a bread maker.

This recipe, from the NY Times, is the solution. It really is no-knead. You do still have to watch it, and it needs lots of time to rise, but it’s definitely a no fuss, no muss recipe!

I have tried this recipe about a year ago. It really is exciting, for a first-time bread baker, to turn out an artisinal-style loaf. It wasn’t as good as commercial bakeries, but I was certainly proud to have made it!
