Little House in the Suburbs makes homemade veggie burgers. One of the few food things that France does not do well is all vegetarian cuisine, so I’m looking forward to trying these.

I just found your blog and am curious … have you written anything about how real people cook and eat in France? I lived in Spain and Italy during my 20’s (giving away my age but that would have been during the mid 70’s to early 80’s.) I’m dying to know what the day to day life is in France now with respect to cooking and eating. When I was in Europe, going to the market was a daily necessity but I loved it – it was a social thing as well. Supermarkets were just beginning to appear so I bought fresh food and cooked every day.
With the rising popularity of organic food and health consciousness here in the states, we are going to the grocery store more freqently and seeking out local farmers’ (and organic) markets. It feels (somewhat) like it used to feel in Europe.

I have written a few things about the comparison between the US and France when talking about grocery shopping on Almost Frugal, but no, I haven’t talked about it much here. It’s changed a lot however, even in the 8 years that I have lived here, and it’s much more of an American way of doing things now. And it’s funny, at the same time America is now moving much more to an European way of doing things, like you said.
I hope you like the veggie burgers. In keeping with your latest post, they are a pretty economical way to go (especially compared to nut burgers) and I have even sold some carnivores on them (some, not all–burger people can be die-hard.)
