This contest is now closed.
This is a giveaway for all of those who know moms or babies (or who are moms or babies), and it’s chockful of wonderful stuff, worth up to $171.50! And unlike my last giveaway, where each item was given away to a different winner, this time one lucky winner will get it all!
I’ve chosen some fantastic treats for moms and kids- I know you’re going to love them as much as I do. Instructions on how to enter are below (and they’re easy, too), but I urge you to visit each and every one of these shops, because the products they’ve generously agreed to donate to one lucky Almost Frugal reader are only the tip of the iceburg- there’s a lot more where they came from!
Our first giveaway item is from the eBillme Debt Free Mall, who has partnered with CSN Stores to give Mom (and Almost Frugal readers) something special- a choice of up to two items, for a total value of $100, from this special Mother’s Day gift page with the Top 50 Gifts for Mom. Gifts are divided into a Top 10 category, or four other categories: New Moms, Traditional, Trendy, and gifts Every Mom will love.
I have to tell you, I’ve looked at their selection a lot, and have had a hard time choosing what I would pick myself, were I to be eligible (which I’m not!). There are a lot of great gifts, from halo sleep sacks to stroller organizers to funky wall mirrors and ice-cream makers. However, as I start down a new professional path, I think I would choose the laptop sleeve and the wallet, both pictured here. What would you choose?
Our next item comes from Etsy shop Merit Market, and it’s a market tote. At least she markets it as a market tote, I would use it as an everyday bag, perfect for carrying all of the day’s essentials. Not only that, it would be perfect for carrying all your stuff from this giveaway!
These totes sell for $18, and are completely handmade. The winner gets to choose the design they prefer, so make sure to visit her shop to see what’s in stock! She also has aprons, coasters and ingenious prop and shoot camera sets.
We’ve talked practical, now let’s talk essential. Or luxury- you choose the adjective, but I vote that these delicious orange-twist oreo truffles from SugarSmitten‘s shop are a necessity. SugarSmitten is offering the winner $15 in store credit, and you can choose anything you like… fudge, caramels, bonbons and more… yum!
Leggings for babies, or a cloth diaper of your choice: you decide! That’s what the next sponsor, Snugs Boutique, is letting you do. They sell their own brand of cloth pocket diapers (which in my opinion are the easiest to use, as they go on like a disposable and dry very quickly) and leggings for babies, which I think are one of the cutest baby trends of the past few years. While I’ve shown my favorite pattern of leggings (I’m crazy about stripes on little girls!), the winner is free to choose their preferred pattern.
Another adorable baby item is this pacifier and toy strap from OhSewCuteDesigns, another Etsy shop. Even if your baby doesn’t use pacifiers, these are great for keeping favorite toys attached- we used this idea for all three of our kids, although we just tied the toys on with a string- not nearly as cute! Again, it’s winner’s choice as to the design, and make sure to check out her shop to sneak a peek at all the other cute things she makes and sells.
I couldn’t resist the sockmonkey design on this little bag from PickleThings so I was delighted that she agreed to donate a bag (again, winner’s choice as to the design). And she has felt food as well- tea bags! potatoes and asparagus! PB&J sandwiches! Ravioli in sauce! Really, you have to see it to believe how cute they are.
And, if you’re notΒ into sockmonkeys, there are a lot of other designs: big dots, flowers, asymetrical dots and so on.
Our final giveaway comes from Quiltdream, another Etsy shop. Although I covet her quilts, that’s not what she’s giving away (although, hey, a girl can dream, right?). Instead she’s offering the winner a minicrayon roll. I love these things- they’re small enough to keep one tucked in your bag to distract whiny toddlers, or to stash them in the car (but maybe not in summer!) for long car rides. The crayon rolls hold six crayons, and not only that, the fabric is sure to please your favorite artist: Elmo, Thomas or Cookie Monster, for example.
So you see what I mean when I say how excited I am about this giveaway- I think there is a lot of great stuff here!
Here’s how to enter (and, as promised, it’s really easy). You get one entry for each of these options, for a total of 10 entries:
- Leave a comment on this post, saying what favorite Mother’s Day gift was, that you have either given or received.
- Post about this giveaway on your own blog, linking back to this post. (No need to let me know you did so, the blog will capture it automatically.)
- Tweet about this giveaway, mentioning the post, and @AlmostFrugal.
- Visit one of the shops mentioned, then come back and leave a comment about your favorite item in that shop. You can do this for each of the seven shops listed.
Now, I know that you’re all busy people, but I’d really appreciate it if you could take a minute to visit each of the sponsor sites- it would mean a lot to each of us.
The contest begins on May 3, 2009 at 12 noon GMT, and finishes on May 11, 2009 at 12 noon GMT. It is only open to people who can give a US or Canadian address, and I reserve the right to disqualify people. Good luck!

Oh wow, what a fantastic giveaway! Had a quick look at all the shops and each one of them is fantastic. Had to visit SugarSmitten’s shop first, though, as I’m in dire need of a chocolate fix. But I was so stunned by the choice that I have to say: I’d just take the whole lot!
And from the first shop I’d definitely go with your choice, that wallet is lovely and the laptop sleeve is such a cool colour.
The crayon rolls are great, too, my favourite design would have to be the Elmo & Cookie Monster one. Or maybe the Bees & Flowers? Gah! Again, too many great options to choose from.
And the coin purses from PickleThings? My, I can’t choose, they’re all gorgeous, but I’m tending towards a ‘dotty’ design. I wonder why…. π
And my best mother’s day gift? I used to give my Mom a bunch of flowers every year when I was little. I’d sneak out early that morning and go around the fields around our house and find the nicest flowers for her. It always felt really special to me (and I hope to my Mom, too) and I thought she never noticed when I crept quietly out of the house. Of course she did.

My favorite Mother’s day gift from my husband and then infant son was a small house plant. The son is now 7 and the house plant has been transferred into 2 different pots and soon will be to be moved again! To me its the gift I can always look at to remember a wonderful day and its seems to be growing as fast as my son π
When I was a kid, I saved up money to buy my mom an cream-colored angora sweater shell from the one clothing boutique in our small town. I thought it was the greatest present ever. It really wasn’t her style but I had this idea of her wearing it… I don’t think she actually did wear it more than a couple of times!

My favorite item at Merit Market is the shopping totes: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24403655.
And I know my daughter would looooove the felt sandwiches at Pickle Things: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23668482
And since she’s going to need to upgrade to a big girl bed soon, this quilt would be so nice: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20601327
The favorite gift I have received as a mother is one I continue to receive each year. My husband and daughters take me to our local nursery/greenhouse and I select plants for potting. Once purchased we come home and put them in pots and they find a home on our front porch and our backdeck. They last all summer and I think of the day that we spent together each time I see them.
Now, I’m going to have to go check out the sites. Looks like there’s a lot of fabulous choices.

What a fantastic giveaway!! My son is only 15 months old, so I've only had one Mother's Day so far, but last year he and Daddy gave me the Joy of Cooking and I LOVE it! I use it all the time.
<abbr>Courtney´s last blog post..Your 15 minutes starts now</abbr>
My favorite gift to give is this year's gift to both my mother and mother-in-law: mugs from Snapfish with a collage of the grandchildren's pictures on them. I hope they like them!
My favorite mother's day gift I was ever given was a lovely bouquet of flowers, cards from my kids and an afternoon to myself when my honey took all the kids to the park. Simple, lovely, kind and thoughtful.
One year my daughters made me a video of them singing a song. That was my favorite π
My favorite gift given was the orchid I picked out for my mom to wear to church. It made her feel special and was such a rare treat for her.
My favorite gift received is the handprint mail sorter my daughter made in preschool. Her hands were traced on cardboard, and she painted and glittered them (for what preschool project would be complete without glitter?). They sit folded on my bulletin board, above where I work.
Just to clarify- the quilts aren't being given away, as lovely as they are!
what great stuff! my favorite mother's day gift so far has to be what my husband and sons gave me last year–i desperately needed a new bible, and my husband bought me one, had "mommy" put on the front of it, and had the boys "write" me notes on the inside (they were 3 and 1 at the time). makes me smile every time i use it.
<abbr>Julia´s last blog post..better</abbr>
So awesome that you do all these giveaways, Kelly! Such good ideas for this economy we are living in! And even if you don't win the giveaway, your posts are still great resources for ideas!

I’ve only had one mother’s day as a mom…my son was born just a few weeks before mother’s day last year and my hubby got me a bracelet for mother’s day! It was my favorite color and perfect and I wear it all the time!
This is an awesome giveaway!!!
for my first mother's day two years ago, my husband got me a blow up wading pool that was just big enough for a float to in. he had it filled up (with hot water from the house). and had my iPod outside already playing my "beach" playlist. I slathered up in sunscreen and laid on my float in that pool for hours while he did laundry and played with our daughter. it was heaven!
<abbr>Christy Ross´s last blog post..Wordless Wednesday</abbr>
What an awesome giveaway! The best Mother's Day gift I've given was a handmade photo album I gave my mom. My husband got me an iced tea maker last year. It's not sexy, but I use it almost every day.
<abbr>Maggie´s last blog post..I did it!</abbr>
On the CSN stores website, I love the Sherpani – Sport Oli Urban Travel Backpack in Palm.
<abbr>Maggie´s last blog post..I did it!</abbr>
My favorite Mother’s day gift is getting my mom a lilac bush each year. It’s great to see them all growing year after year. They are her favorite.

I have tweeted about your giveaway!
My favorite from ebillme is that yellow kettle (lovely!)
From Merit Market I really like the white cotton duck crafting apron (I am always misplacing things).
From Sugarsmitten I think turtle oreo truffles, tough decision though!
From Snugs boutique the cloth diapers. I do wish I used them!
From Ohsewcute designs the Cute Construction and Dots Boutique Style Burp Cloth Set
From Pickle Things the sock monkey coin/camera purse, I too am a sucker for sock monkeys!
From Quiltdream her Hand Quilted Red and Ivory Quilt. Such incredible workmanship & detail in her hand quilting ~ WOW!
Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!
ilena´s last blog post..New Shoes
The Picklethings store was nice and the spaghetti and sandwiches were too cute. Merit Market also had a clever camera point and shoot stand. Great ideas for Mother’s Day or anytime gifts. Although, my daughter (born 2 days after Mother’s Day nearly 2 years ago) would disagree and find Quiltdream the best shop because it has Elmo blankets etc. My favorite Mother’s Day gift was a book about a little girl growing up called “Someday” by a local author that my husband gave me when I was due with her.
My favorite Mother's Day gift was a plastic toy elephant that my son picked out for me when he was three years old. It sits on my kitchen windowsill, and I love it still!
My oldest is only three, so we haven’t had too many Mother’s Days yet. But every year my mom always sends me flowers – I think it’s so thoughtful of her to remember me, when it should be the other way around! I think she’s just really happy I finally gave her grandkids. LOL
I love the items you are giving away! So cute and I could definitely use them. π We are constantly growing out of cloth diapers, and my oldest would love a crayon roll to keep him occupied in church!
Candice´s last blog post..Can you believe it’s already May?
My favorite item at the merit market are the market bags. They are so cute! I would use them all the time!
At Oh So Cute Designs i like the paci holders. i had never thought of using the paci holders as a toy holder!
I definitely need a new teakettle, and yellow is one of my favorite colors for kitchens. Why cook in someplace that doesn't inspire you to use bright, healthy foods, too? π
<abbr>Candice´s last blog post..Can you believe it’s already May?</abbr>
I love giving Grandmother shirts to my mom and my mother-in-law. They think they are pretty cool. That is how we told my mother-in-law I was pregnant with my 1st!
I typically don't get mother's day presents.
We have been dedicating our children on Mother's day when they are babies (this is the 3rd year of doing that)…so that is my special present.
My favorite Mother’s Day gift ever was a poem with my son’s handprint in paint. It was his first hand-made gift for me, from preschool. I cried when he gave it to me. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway.
From Pickle Things I like the Blue Queen Anne's Lace Coin Purse Camera Case it is so cute!
From quilt dreams i love the Children's Coloring and Crayon Tote Bag – Robots and Aliens. The tote bags are a cool idea to have the crayons with it! LOVE THEM!
The best mothers day gift I got was when my 2 adult children had there picture made together and surprised me with it on mothers day. A picture is always the best gift ever.
Ack! It removed my comment when I tried to post it (I guess when I linked to my favorites, it thought it was spam. π )
My son would love QuiltDream's train crayon roll with the velcr0 – he loves all things trains, and he'd probably enjoy bringing it to church with us!
I just can't believe PickleThings's felt foods! They look so real! I especially like the vegetables – they actually look edible. One thing I especially appreciated about PickleThings's store is that they use a lot of repurposed materials.
OhSewCute has the perfect pacifier clip for me: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=2… It fits a soothie, which is what my 8 month old son uses (and I didn't think a clip was possible for a soothie!) plus it's my favorite color combo – blue and chocolate brown. Hard to find in a boyish print, surprisingly enough.
I'd have to try Snugs' boutique's Bamboo diaper – I make my own at home when I have time, and I love to use bamboo. But my youngest is growing so fast, I only get diapers made and he's about grown out of them! The medium-large would be perfect since he's at the bottom of that weight spectrum.
Mmm…vanilla caramels: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=2…. I had to stop looking at this store. Now I want chocolate. And there isn't any here. π
I'd have to get MeritMarket's market tote in blue and olive – It's too pretty! I use my reusable (and unattractive) Walmart bags all the time, and I love to carry my knitting in something nice and big like this!
<abbr>Candice´s last blog post..Can you believe it’s already May?</abbr>
My grandfather was an amateur photographer and my grandmother had thousands of his slides in old boxes. One year I spent weeks converting the slides into digital images. After processing a thousand or so I loaded them onto a digital picture frame for my grandmother. Suddenly all of my grandfather's images came back to life. She says it is the best gift she has ever been given. That picture frame has been running for years, she refuses to turn it off and when she can't sleep at night she sits in front of it and watches the images of her husband, children and grandchildren. I am so happy to have given her something that makes her so happy!

Quilt Dreams -the Children’s Coloring and Crayon Tote Bag – Robots and Aliens.
My fave Mother's Day gift was a necklace and earrings set that had tanzanite and diamonds set in white gold. I still love that and I've had it for about 6 years!
<abbr>Angie´s last blog post..Share It Sunday – May 3rd, 2009</abbr>
We gave my mom a family picture with all her grandkids, not an easy feat considering there are over 15 grandchildren under 13!
My favorite Mothers Day gift was given to me by my daughter a few years ago. She was about 13 years old. She collected a few dozen photos and used them to make an incredible collage on a large piece of thick posterboard. She further decorated it with funny little sayings and a sweet poem. This may not sound like a big deal, but the photos she chose were incredible- I don’t even remember some of them being taken! She even found a rare photo of me when I was pregnant with her. It’s something I’ll always have and it was from the heart.
Love the little bags…market totes, sock monkey design, etc. I can't get enough of little places to put all of our little goodies. Looking forward to winning them all! π My favorite mother's day gift…a day with my mother and my new daughter…three generations of wonderful women. Keep up the good work.
I really like quiltdreams crayon and color tote bag. My son would love the thomas one.
What an awesome load of loot! My best mother’s day present was from my oldest son. He knows I love pigs so he made me the cutest ceramic pig in art class. He’s 26 years old now but I still have that little pig sitting on my desk.

My grandparents lived in their home until well into their 80’s and had a hard time getting their otherwise low-maintenance yard “in shape” after a long winter. The whole family–kids, grandkids and great-grandkids–used to descend on their house every year between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to mow, edge, plant, mulch, clean gutters, make up planters–the whole nine yards. We got a ton of satisfaction out of working together as a family, and the grandparents were able to accept the help with pride because it was a gift. That was the best gift ever, for everyone involved!
My favorite Mother's gift I have give is a mustard seed necklace to my mother.
Last year was my 1st Mother’s Day and it was the best day ever. I loved spending time with my new son and my husband. The earrings they got me were nice too π

I have to say my favorite Mother’s Day gift was last year, from my then 13yo son. He bought a used, broken iPod from a kid in school, then conspired with my hubby, ordered the replacement parts, and fixed it himself, presenting me with a like new, in perfect working order 80gig iPod on Mother’s Day.
The amount of thought and preparation that went into that gift shocked me… he’s a teenage boy!!!

The best gift I have ever given to my mother was 10 years ago when I was 11, I went to the tulip festival in Ottawa and I painted on a plaster tulip and brought it home for her when all the other kids were doing it for themselves. My mother really loves the tulip and based her decorations in our kitchen around it!
I like the edible gifts, like chocolate covered berries
I have memories of making my mom breakfast in bed. The whole family all cuddled together eating toast, and laughing.

My favorite Mother’s day was last year- the second one as a mom. I made a champagne breakfast for my family (and the inlaws). Then, we all went to the mall, and I had a mani pedi with my MIL (as a gift to both of us.) Then we came home, and I took a nap with my son in may arms.
It was a near perfect day. I wish I could replicate it exactly on Sunday…

What a great prize!
My favourite mother’s day gift I ever gave was when I was young (around 8 or so). I had heard from my friends that they make their mother’s breakfast for mother’s day and I thought I would do the same. Having never cooked before and not knowing that there were adults helping my friends I tried making it myself. I still remember my mother’s brave face as she took a bite knowing how awful it would taste. As a great mom, she of course, faked her excitement and I was delighted.
My favorite mothers day gift was when my kids and husband made me breakfast in bed. It was so nice to be pampered.
My favorite gift was a Macy’s gift card.
I like SugarSmitten’s White Chocolate Cookies and Cream Fudge.
The Notepad & Coupon Organizer is my favorite item at Quiltdream. It looks both pretty and sturdy. It would be quite useful in my purse.

I got my mom a charm bracelet
What an awesome giveaway! I love the one size pocket diapers from Snugs. I'm all about pocket diapers these days – they dry so much faster, and are easy to make more absorbent for night time.
I also love the stuff on the CNS site. I think I'd go with the travel baby seat (we don't have a portable high chair – we just wing it when we go somewhere with him) or the tea kettle.
On Pickle Things, I love the bibs. Our little guy is still wearing his first bibs, and he's gotten really good at yanking them off, sometimes as soon as we put them on him.
At a Quilt Dream, I really like the blue sunflower tote bag. I love tote bags, and this one is beautiful.
Merit Market has the best coasters. Love the ones with leaves on them. Very earthy and natural looking.
I made my mom a scrapbook (full size, 12 by 12) for mothers day a few years ago. It took me more than a month to make, but it turned out great. She loves it, which makes it a perfect present.
The best gift is time together.
I checked out the sites. They are all really great. Love the chocolate. They look really yummy.
I also like the crayon rolls on Quiltdreams. I thought those would be handy to take in the car. I also like the idea of getting pretty tote bags to put your items in when shopping instead of using plastic bags. Great colours.

I remember one year being in the card store with my mom and I showed her one that I liked. It was a very frugal way to share my thoughts! We both agree that cards are a waste of money, but still fun to pick out and share.
CSN: Loved the FLW clock…our whole house is done Arts and Crafts, and it really stood out. Also love the color of the iris mug.
Merit Market: Love the tote! It’s so cute I don’t think I could put bananas in it….
Sugarsmitten: I have decided I love any candy that has the possibility of pulling out a filling. The caramel marshmallow fudge looks dreamy…
OhSewCute: I have to wonder if the pacifier strap could keep my keys from sinking to the bottom of my purse…
Pickle Things: Sock monkeys rock. Nuff said.
Quiltdream: All so beautiful! It's hard to pick a favorite.
a couple years back i took a weaving class at oregon college of arts and crafts and made a really pretty scarf. i actually ended up giving it to my mom-in-law (don’t tell y mom!) because it complimented her coloring better. she cried when she opened it and that gift was a real turning point in our relationship.

I think I picked Mom a good gift this year, so far it’s my favorite. I’m giving her a subscription to the weekly newspaper from our little town. She had mentioned that she had let her subscription expire because in her eyes it’s expensive, but she also mentioned that she misses it.
One year I was fortunate enough to have won a mini garden with African Violets and green plants, right before Mother's Day, so I had them send it to my mother who loved it!
Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite Mothers Day gift was when my daughter was 3 and she made a cookie dough heart necklace in pre-school. I still have it, and she’s 16 now.

You know, I think the BEST Mother's Day Gift has always been when my 3 little ones come to me with something they made, no matter how small or messy, with their big smiles saying, "Happy Mother's Day, Mommy" & give me a big hug & kiss. Nothing beats that!
<abbr>Jennifer B´s last blog post..Picnic Frock GIVEAWAY!!!!</abbr>
My most favorite mother’s day gift was a necklace my husband bought me with two little children charms- one for our girl and one for our boy- with their birthstones on them. I love that necklace.
Not a mother myself, but I always sent my mother flowers, and sometimes pastel candies that she enjoyed.
When my oldest granddaughter was in kindergarten, she brought me a “tree” for Mother’s Day. It was actually a twig with some roots that she had dug up from her own yard. We had a planting ceremony in my back yard and that tree grew straight and tall and beautiful. It’s about 30′ tall now and I enjoy looking at it regularly and appreciate the shade it provides, but I have special thoughts about it on Mother’s Day.
My favorite was when I took my mom to the trip to Europe!

When I was 12, I gave my mom a Dirt Devil. She loved it.
My favourite Mother’s Day gift that I’ve given has been hanging baskets of flowers. My mom liked them so much that my brother and I have gotten her those for several years in a row now – it’s just the right time of year for them, and they’re the kind of thing she wouldn’t buy for herself.
We’ve been having a lot of attitude issues with our 16 year old daughter recently, so my heart melted when she got me a very special Mother’s Day Card and two beautiful Mom-related 3-d shadowbox/message frames for me to put on my wall. At her age, it’s hard to say sorry, so I think these precious items are her way of saying it silently to me… and I love her so much for making the effort, because she shopped and paid for these things all on her own, with no help from Dad.
