I just wanted to congratulate you on the new job, and only after a year and a half of blogging -- imagine that! Come this June, I will have been blogging for 3 yrs. It hasn't paid off for me financially, but blogging has helped me to get in touch with my inner child. It's something I like to do whether I'm paid or not. Maybe one day my ship will dock at shore, but until then I'll just keep treading water in my inflatable tube. I think your being an expat. is quite fascinating. Keep up the good work! :)

I think something important to add to this list is patience and perseverance. You have to be patient as you first start out, there's things to learn and the money isn't immediate. Perseverance comes in when it seems like you won't make it, you refuse to back down. Like Matt said, a good many blogger's don't make it past their 6 months mark. Keeping the passion alive takes patience and perseverance. Great stuff!

I have a goal to be blogging full-time by the end of 2010 and am incredibly passionate about the topic of debt on which I write, which truly makes all the hard work worth while.
Good luck & godspeed!

What a great news, congratulations! You deserve every bit of this success, I am so happy for you. I wish you a lot of satisfaction at your new job.
I have IT qualifications and they helped me a lot with getting Baby-log going, as I could do a lot of technical stuff myself and didn't have to pay for it. I certainly love blogging and think that I'm good at it - maybe in time money will follow. Anyway, really glad you're doing so well!
