Squawkfox shares three recipes for tomatoes… with beautiful pictures as always. I want to climb into my laptop to devour those salads!

Speaking of tomatoes, Frugal Babe combines them with watermelon.

Bakerella shares perfectly peanutty cookies.

The Reductionist shares ten reasons why you should learn to cook.

Vegan? Drink wine? Check out this vegan wine guide. I’m mostly including this post because I had no idea that some wines aren’t vegan. I mean, they’re just grapes, aren’t they?

Big City, Little Kitchen presents a fabulous butter cake recipe.

WiseBread has eight vegetarian meal ideas for meat eaters.

This recipe was posted in July, but it Looks. So. Delicious. that I can’t stop myself from trying to find the equivalent ingredients here in France.

I discovered Southern Plate because I submitted a post to a carnival that will be posted there. Like Mandajuice’s recipe above, the recipes posted here are not for the diet- or faint- or vegan- hearted, but they look so friggin’ good!

I also wanted to share something with you that I found recently. (Full disclosure- the link that I am providing is an ad, and if you buy something through this link I earn a commision, even though it doesn’t cost you any more money than it would otherwise. Feel free to go to the website, copy the home page address and return without going through me.)

TasteBook is a site that allows you to choose recipes from websites or add your own. The recipes are then bound into a hardcover notebook, to which you can add more recipes. I haven’t actually seen a finished product (although my birthday is coming soon, hint hint) but it looks to be of high quality. A book of 25 recipes costs $19.95 and a book of 100 recipes costs $34.95. You don’t even have to buy all 100 recipes at once, you can choose to have the others printed and shipped to you at a later date.

Now normally I cringe at trying to actively sell you something, so I don’t want you to think that is what I am trying to do. I think putting ads up in the sidebars is fine, as they are easier to ignore if you choose to (or not). But this product just seems so neat to me, something that I think that anyone who likes to cook, but has a hard time finding a cookbook, would like, that I felt like I had to make an exception and tell you about it directly. (And after all, my birthday is just around the corner…) Back to regularly scheduled programming now.

Hi Kelly! LOL on jumping into your computer! I really enjoy taking all those tomato photographs so I’m thrilled you like the pictures. :)

I love that tastebook idea, would have been great in May when I gave my brother a collection of family recipes as a wedding gift. Oh well, will definitely keep it in mind for later!
