		<description>I use a lid whenever possible and also turn down the heat or turn it off completely before the food is cooked. Most of the time the residual heat is enough to finish the cooking process. 

I also cook rice by adding it to boiling water and then turning off the heat. It doesn&#039;t need to boil at all to get done, just wait for however long your particular type of rice should cook and all the water should&#039;ve been soaked up and your rice should be finished. 

Never heard this about pasta but will certainly try this out, if it works with rice why shouldn&#039;t it work with pasta! 

A solar oven sounds interesting. Wonder if that would work in Ireland, though, with the little amount of sunshine we get here.... :)
